about

I got my first camera as a little kid and was instantly hooked — excited to document holidays, landscapes, and animals. But I was told that only photos with people in them were truly interesting. For a long time, I believed it.

Years later, my fascination with lichen led me back to photography. Their textures, colors, and subtle beauty reawakened my desire to document the natural world—this time, on my own terms.

Since then, I’ve studied digital and analogue photography at the Photocentrum of the VHS Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Now based in Berlin, I use photography to tell stories—of nature, of small and big adventures, and of the overlooked moments that shape how we see the world.

Sahsabi is the pseudonym I use for my photography — a blend of my name, Sarah, and wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that embraces imperfection and transience. Just like nature, and just like my photographic journey.
